Butoh Workshop
with Yumiko Yoshioka
Aegina, Greece | May 30 – June 1, 2025
Join us for a 3-day Butoh workshop with master Yumiko Yoshioka. In this workshop, Yumiko Yoshioka will guide participants through her unique Antenna Exercises — a method combining physical movement, imagery, and breath to awaken hidden layers of consciousness and expression.
Through Butoh, we explore transformation by shedding old patterns and embodying the unknown. This deep somatic process invites us to connect with our inner landscape and collective memory, allowing the body to become a resonant vessel of time and change.
The workshop includes:
Organic movement inspired by Noguchi Taiso, Tai Chi, and Yoga
AUN breathing techniques
Energy flow training
Antenna exercises (animal, insect, snake, witch, fairy, etc.)
Partner work, structured improvisation, and Butoh-based choreography focusing on her unique Antenna Exercises – exploring transformation through movement, breath, and inner imagery.
Schedule:
Fri, May 30: 16:00–21:00
Sat, May 31: 11:30–15:30 & 19:30–21:30 (video screening & talk)
Sun, June 1: 12:00–17:00
Yumiko Yoshioka – Bio
Yumiko Yoshioka is a Japanese Butoh dancer and choreographer, based in Japan and Berlin. She was a founding member of Ariadone, the first all-female Butoh group, established in 1973 by Ko Murobushi and Carlotta Ikeda.
Since 1989, Yumiko has developed and taught her method called Body Resonance — a somatic approach that deepens awareness of the body, not only for dance but as a way of living. Her work explores the connection between time, memory, and physical transformation, inviting each body to discover its own inner beauty and expressive potential.
