Sunday, January 12 at 19:30 – Fantastic Women
With special guest Antigone Gyra! We will screen and discuss her work!
"Fantastic Women" is the result of a three-year choreographic research project, developed across seas, mountains, living rooms, studios, airplanes, and the paths in between — in Greece, Switzerland, Israel, and the UK. It explores the nature of femininity and the notion of womanhood in transition.
From the beginning, the central concept was femininity in transition, which led the team to coin the neologism "gynaikótita" (a Greek wordplay suggesting “woman-ness”) to emphasize everything carried by female biology, whether innate or acquired.
The performance examines how unequal treatment of all forms of femininity is rooted in discrimination tied to what is culturally and socially perceived as "female nature." Any form of femininity that diverges from socially acceptable ideals continues to be judged and undervalued.
At the same time, Fantastic Women is both a protest and a celebration — a journey from the source that embraces every form of woman and womanly behavior stemming from self-defined creativity, strength, and vulnerability.
Choreography: Antigone Gyra, in collaboration with the performers
Dramaturgical Consultant: Christos Polymenakos
Soundscape & Original Music: Orestis Tanis

Sunday, December 8 at 19:30 – Guest Artist: Ilektra Angelopoulou
We are delighted to welcome Ilektra Angelopoulou to Mikro Studio for an evening screening and discussion.
We will present the performance “Woman” followed by an open conversation with the artist.
A Few Words About the Work:
In July 2019, as part of the Theatre/Archaeology program at Koutroulou Magoula (a collaboration between Brown University and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Phthiotis and Evrytania), and in collaboration with Efthimis Theou, the performance “Woman” was presented on site at the excavation.
Together with eleven women from the two nearby villages, and inspired by the rich collection of figurines found at the site, the performance explored female identity—as seen in archaeological material, excavation practices, and the local community.

Born in Athens, she studied Classics at UCL (University College London) and holds a Master's degree in Ancient World – Classical Archaeology from the University of Crete, where she gained several years of excavation experience.
She also holds an MA in Text and Performance (Performance track) from RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in collaboration with King’s College London.
In theatre, she has worked as a performer, director, assistant director, researcher, dramaturg, and producer, collaborating with institutions and festivals such as:
